Free HTTP Status Code & Header Checker

Inspect HTTP response headers, security headers scorecard, and status codes for any URL. Instant results, no signup.

HTTP response headers control caching, security, and how browsers handle your content. Missing security headers like HSTS and Content-Security-Policy leave visitors exposed to attacks. This free checker inspects all response headers and gives you a security scorecard.

How It Works

1

Enter URL

Type any website URL. We will add https:// if needed.

2

HEAD Request

We send a HEAD request (or GET fallback) to retrieve all response headers efficiently.

3

Security Scorecard

See status code, all headers, and a security headers scorecard with pass/fail checks.

What This Tool Checks

HTTP status code and protocol version
All response headers
HSTS header check
Content-Security-Policy check
X-Frame-Options and X-Content-Type-Options
Referrer-Policy and Permissions-Policy

Why Monitor Continuously?

Security headers can change during deployments. Continuous monitoring catches misconfigurations before they expose your users to attacks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Status codes in the 2xx range (200 OK, 201 Created, etc.) indicate success. 301/302 redirects are normal for HTTP-to-HTTPS or www redirects. 4xx codes indicate client errors and 5xx codes indicate server problems.

Security headers are HTTP response headers that tell browsers how to handle your content securely. They protect against XSS attacks, clickjacking, MIME sniffing, and other common web vulnerabilities. Missing security headers leave your visitors exposed.

Common missing headers include Content-Security-Policy, Permissions-Policy, and Strict-Transport-Security. Many default web server configurations do not include these. Check your web server or CDN settings to add them.

HSTS tells browsers to only connect to your site over HTTPS, even if someone types http://. It prevents SSL stripping attacks and should be enabled on all HTTPS sites.

HEAD requests retrieve only headers without downloading the body, making checks faster and using less bandwidth. If a server does not support HEAD (405 error), we automatically fall back to a GET request.
