Single-Location Monitoring Lies to You

A monitor that only checks from one datacenter is a monitor that only sees one version of the internet. When Cloudflare has a regional outage, when an AWS availability zone fails, or when BGP routes collapse in Europe, your one-location probe may still return HTTP 200 — while thousands of users see a blank page.

  • Detect regional BGP and routing failures
  • Catch cloud provider availability-zone outages
  • See DNS propagation and CDN cache issues per region
  • Measure real response time for users in each market

Smart Per-Location Alerting

Multi-location monitoring only helps if it doesn't drown you in false positives. GoPinger lets you choose exactly when a multi-region check should page you — per alert rule.

  • All — only alert when every location reports down (default, safest)
  • Majority — alert when more than half the locations fail
  • Any — alert on the first failing location (for region-critical apps)
  • Different strategies per rule — e.g. pager on "all", email on "any"

Current status4/5 up
Alert firesNo — 1 region down is not enough
Switches to "Any" on the pager rule only for production API monitors.

Common Questions

What is multi-location website monitoring?

Multi-location monitoring checks your websites and APIs from multiple geographic regions simultaneously. Instead of a single probe in one datacenter, GoPinger runs checks from several independent locations across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. Results are tagged by location so you can see per-region uptime and response time.

Why do I need more than one monitoring location?

Single-location monitoring lies. A regional BGP issue, a cloud provider outage, or a DNS problem in one geography can take your site down for thousands of users while your monitor shows green from its one probe. Multi-location checks catch these regional failures and also give you real response times as seen by users in different markets.

How many locations are available?

GoPinger currently runs probes from 5+ global locations including US East, US West, EU Central, EU West, and Asia-Pacific. We add new regions based on customer demand. All active locations are listed in the monitor edit screen.

How many locations can I check from?

The free plan checks from one location per monitor. The Starter plan includes up to 3 locations and the Pro plan up to 5. Enterprise includes checks from all active locations. You can mix and match — one monitor can check from multiple regions while another uses just one.

How does alerting work with multiple locations?

You choose the strategy per alert rule. "All locations" (default) only triggers when every configured location reports the site as down — this avoids false positives from regional outages. "Majority" fires when more than half the locations report down. "Any" fires on the first failing location — use this if even a regional outage matters to your users.

Which location does the uptime percentage reflect?

Each monitor has a "primary" location that drives the headline uptime number and the response time shown on the dashboard. Secondary locations appear as comparison data on the monitor detail page. You can change the primary location at any time.

Does multi-location monitoring cost extra?

No. Multi-location checks are included in your plan — there are no per-location add-on fees. More locations do consume more monitor slots proportionally because each location-check is counted as a check, but the feature itself is not an upsell.
